Discovering Facebook

I recently came across Facebook — an online social networking site that’s quickly changing how people connect on the web.
www.facebook.com
Facebook lets users connect with friends, share updates, upload unlimited photos, and exchange links and videos. It’s more than just a profile — it’s a growing digital community where people stay in touch and discover more about one another.
The platform was created by Mark Zuckerberg and Chris Hughes in February 2004, originally as a private network for Harvard students. Within months, it expanded across other Ivy League schools, and by the end of that year, Facebook had already reached over a million users.
Today, it’s open to anyone with a valid email address. Each member can create a profile with photos, interests, and short bios — and decide how much to share through privacy settings.
What makes Facebook even more interesting is its application platform, which allows developers to build and share their own mini-apps within Facebook itself — from photo sharing tools to digital graffiti walls. It’s a glimpse into how social networking might evolve, and it’s easy to see why it’s spreading so fast.
